• Students will be broken into groups and given paragraphs from the reading. Groups will also be provided with colored sticky notes coded to their group
• The groups will identify words they don't know and copy them to sticky notes to be affixed to chart paper hung in stations around the room.
• Students groups (prompted and timed by the teacher) will move from station to station attempting to define the words they know and attach a color coded sticky with the definition so they can later share the definition with the whole class.
• The teachers will then lead the groups to collaboratively review the identified and defined words. Student groups should be defining the words for the class.
• Words that remain undefined should be taught through either contextual clues or other strategies modeled for the class.
